Karnataka To Implement National Education Policy From August
Bangalore: Karnataka will be implementing the new National Education Policy (NEP) after merging it with the state’s existing education policy.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar, while attending a video conference with NEP draft Committee chairman Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, said, “In two week’s time, the NEP and a state policy would be merged to bring out a separate policy for Karnataka,” Times Now News reported.
The Karnataka government has already passed a resolution accepting NEP and a meeting to implement the policy was held on Friday.
“A resolution was passed accepting the NEP,” said the Deputy Chief Minister for Higher Education, CN Ashwath Narayan, who held a meeting with the members of the task force for the implementation of NEP 2020.
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday had approved the NEP 2020, which replaced the 34-year-old National Policy on Education, 1986.
