BHUBANESWAR: KIIT University in Bhubaneswar has signed an MoU with Apollo Tyres Limited for introducing a specialised academic course in tyre technology.

“Through this partnership, KIIT will offer a specialised bucket of electives covering tyre science, tyre design, manufacturing, testing, and sustainability — areas that have never before been integrated formally into an engineering curriculum in India,” the institute stated in a release, claimed it to a significant milestone in technical education landscape.

It further stated that the Apollo Tyres will support the university in syllabus development, preparing study material, and aligning pedagogies with the latest industry trends. The company’s subject-matter experts will also deliver lectures, ensuring students gain exposure to real-world practices and cutting-edge technologies.

“This is the first-of-its-kind partnership in India. No engineering institute currently offers specialised courses in tyre manufacturing. It has been my dream to introduce gold-standard specialised electives, and this collaboration finally makes it possible,” said KIIT Vice Chancellor Prof Saranjit Singh.

Head of Product Development (CV TBR), Apollo Tyres, Prashant Kumar S, added that the MoU will “significantly enhance the employability quotient of students by giving them deeper industry-aligned skills.”
