KIIT International MUN, Themed ‘Engage to Empower’, Concludes At Bhubaneswar’s KIIT

Bhubaneswar: More than 1,300 delegates from across India and abroad took part in the 11th edition of KIIT International Model United Nations (MUN).

The biggest MUN in Asia, which concluded at KIIT University on Sunday, was themed ‘Engage to Empower’. It sought to promote deliberation and discourse among the youth to facilitate empowerment and growth that would pave the way for a beautiful future world order.

The three-day event was inaugurated on October 6 with the chief guest being Komla Jervis Zogbema, Director of Department of Scholarships and Internships, Ministry of Higher Education & Research, Togo. Yawa Edem Akpemado, Charge d’Affairs Embassy of Togo in New Delhi, was the guest of honour.

International student delegates were from Nigeria, Somalia, Bangladesh, Syria, Ethiopia, Togo.

The KIIT-MUN had 35 Executive Board (EB) members while International EBs were from Indonesia and Bangladesh.

“In the post-colonial era, African nations are in a transition towards economic upliftment and education as a major sector has a lot to contribute,” Zogbema said in his speech delivered in French.

Praising India’s stellar role in G20 leadership, Zogbema called for an overhaul in the UN structure and also wanted a close association with India to excel in human development sector.

KIIT and KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta hoped that the entire MUN assembly will deal with the world’s major issues and look to find a solution.

KIIT-DU VC Prof. Saranjit Singh, Registrar Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Director General International Relations Debraj Pradhan, Additional Registrar Dr Shyam Sundar Behura and Secretary General of KIIT-MUN 2023 Kshitij Singh were present.
