Bhubaneswar: A four-member Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KiiT) Deemed to be University team led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Sasmita Samanta has been conferred with the prestigious AICTE Lilavati Award 2021-22 under the sub-theme “Legal Awareness”.
AICTE Chairman, Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, presented the award to KIIT-DU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasmita Samanta, at a special felicitation function to commemorate International Women’s Day in New Delhi on Tuesday, March 8.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, virtually addressed the award ceremony.
KIIT emerged the winner in the “Legal Awareness” sub-theme section for its contribution to the establishment of an equitable just society with peace and happiness. The award carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh.
Earlier, among over 500 participants, one winner and two runners-up were recommended in each sub-theme by an expert committee formed by AICTE following scrutiny of the work done in the field of women empowerment.
The AICTE announced the winners on the basis of the expert committee’s recommendations.
KIIT & KISS founder, Dr Achyuta Samanta, expressed his happiness and thanked AICTE for the award besides congratulating Professor Sasmita Samanta and the team.
