Ladakh: Following two decades of relentless efforts, Ladakh-based Druk Padma Karpo School, popularly known as ‘Rancho’s school’, is all set to get its much-anticipated affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). After a long delay, the school finally got the green signal from the Jammu & Kashmir board.
The affiliation is in accordance with the CBSE norms that need schools to have a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the respective state board.
Druk Padma Karpo School here was highlighted when it featured in the Amir Khan-starrer ‘3 Idiots’. A building wall belonging to the school was shown in the Amir Khan-starrer and has been popular since then. However, the school building was relocated in 2018 as students were getting distracted by the inflow of tourists.
Recently, the school got affiliated to the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE). “We have been trying to get our school affiliated to the CBSE for many years,” school Principal Mingur Agmo was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
“Though we have all the required infrastructure in place, excellent result record, and focus on innovative ways of teaching and learning, we didn’t get the NOC from JKBOSE despite several attempts all these years.
“Finally, the document has been received this month and we will complete rest of the process for affiliation soon.
“We are hoping that we will get the affiliation this year and there will be no more hurdles,” she explained.
