Lockdown 2.0: Bengal To Resume Mid-Day Meal Scheme From Today

Kolkata: The West Bengal education department will restart the mid-day meal scheme for school students from Monday. The guardians of eligible students can go and collect rice and potatoes from the respective schools during the lockdown.

According to the education department, the food distribution will continue till April 30 and the exact dates and time will be communicated via WhatsApp.

Besides, no student can accompany their guardians during the distribution. Moreover, the guardians must ensure precautionary measures such as social distancing, wearing masks, etc. while coming to collect the food.

“District inspectors in different zones will ask the school authorities to maintain social distancing, hygiene and other precautionary measures while distributing the materials,” India Today quoted an official as saying.

Moreover, to streamline the 10-day distribution process, each school has allotted different time slots for guardians to curb mass gathering.
