Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has launched ‘Har Ghar Pathshala’ programme to provide students with learning resources at their homes during the lockdown period.
Under the initiative, many other programmes are focused on teaching students through online classes via WhatsApp and centralized website.
Chairing a meeting with the education department of the state on Friday, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that it is essential to cover all the classes in the programme and provide the students with the best content on important subjects.
“Under this initiative, multiple programmes were being used to ensure maximum reach of the students. He said that a three-hour slot per day on Doordarshan Shimla was focusing on Classes 10 and 12,” one of his statements from the meeting was quoted by Hindustan Times.
Interestingly, according to the state education department, 98 per cent of elementary schools with 66 per cent students and 90 per cent of high schools with 72 per cent students have been connected with higher authorities and teachers through WhatsApp.
Besides this, the state is planning to start teaching through All India Radio and is also working on a plan to smoothen the functioning of educational institutions post the lockdown period.
