Maharashtra Education Department Starts Career Portal For Students
Mumbai: The Maharashtra School Education Department, along with UNICEF India, has started an online career portal for Class IX and XII. The step has been taken as classrooms remain closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The main aim of the portal is to allow students to get information on career, entrance exams or any other necessary educational details. The portal has over 500 careers, which will regularly be updated. It also features career facilities in food science, hospitality & tourism, animation, graphics, sports and many others. The students can use this service from May 27 by using a specific user ID and password and can visit the www.mahacareerportal.com site.
Maharashtra School Education Minister,Varsha Gaikwad, during the launch of the portal said, “It will empower our students to explore various career options. It will also serve as an important tool to the state counsellors to support students in making an informed choice about their future. This is especially important to empower our young girls.”
UNICEF India has developed the portal in a collaboration with iDream Career. It is available in Marathi, Hindi and English language. According to the initiative, teachers will also be a part of it. They will work on the structure and content of the career guidelines.
