NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed three major competitive examinations scheduled for 2026 amid concerns over answer-sheet evaluation and alleged recruitment irregularities.
The revised dates for the exams have not yet been announced.
The three examinations affected by the commission’s decision include Maharashtra State Services Main Examination 2026, scheduled to begin on October 3, 2026; Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026 and Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination 2026.
The decision comes after extensive representations and protests by candidates, parents, and student bodies regarding the assessment process of the State Services Main Examination 2025.
The candidates raised concerns over evaluation accuracy and alleged irregularities, including a suspected question paper leak during the Drug Inspector recruitment examination.
The Commission has decided to re-evaluate the answer sheets of the State Services Main Examination 2025, said an official notification.

“Several student organisations have submitted objections to the Commission regarding the evaluation of answer sheets of the Maharashtra State Services Main Examination 2025. Taking these objections into consideration, the Commission has decided to conduct re-evaluation of the answer sheets of the State Services Main Examination 2025,” the MPSC said, adding that the exam process may be delayed.
The MPSC said that a high-level committee, headed by senior bureaucrat V Radha, is reviewing the existing exam systems. The panel has engaged in extensive discussions with candidates and other stakeholders, and studied the best practices. The panel’s recommendations for an ideal examination system are expected soon.
