New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) on Tuesday launched ‘Manodarpan’, an initiative to provide psychosocial support to students keeping in view their mental health and well being in focus.
Launching the initiative, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said it is a step towards Prime Minister’s vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat. He also inaugurated a national toll-free helpline, a special web page of ‘Manodarpan’, and a handbook on the initiative.
The Union Minister further informed that a ‘Working Group’ with experts from the fields of education, mental health and psychosocial issues as its members, has also been set up to monitor and promote mental health issues and concerns of students.
The initiative aims to facilitate support to address the mental health and psychosocial aspects during and after COVID-19 lockdown, through counselling services, online resources and helpline. The initiative includes online interactions, webinars, audio-visuals support and advisory guidelines.
Minister of State for HRD, Sanjay Dhotre, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Amit Khare, Secretary, School Education and Literacy Anita Karwal and senior officials of the Ministry were present.
