Bengaluru:Microsoft has emerged as the top employer in India, regaining its numero uno position again in 2024 from the fifth spot last year, the Randstand Employer Brand Research 2024 report said.
IT services major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has emerged as the second most preferred employer, followed by Amazon, Tata Power, Tata Motors, and Samsung India.
Infosys has been featured as the seventh-best employer brand in India, while L&T is in the eighth spot. Reliance Industries has been on the ninth spot, while Mercedes-Benz is featured as the tenth most favoured employer as per the list.

“The insights from this year’s findings reflect the changing expectations of the workforce. As talent increasingly prioritizes work-life balance and equity, organisations need to rethink their talent acquisition and retention strategies,” Randstad India MD & CEO Viswanath PS said in a release.
Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
On the impact of AI on the job landscape, the survey pointed out that around half of the survey respondents use AI daily or regularly, with this trend being most pronounced among Gen Z (60 per cent).
Around 88 per cent of talent expect AI to affect their jobs in the next five years. Only 8 per cent of talent view AI’s potential impact negatively. The attractiveness of all sectors is increasing at similar rates.
Among sectors, the automotive sector has again emerged as the most preferred sector among employees. It was followed by IT, Communication, Telecom & ITeS (76 per cent), FMCG, Durables, Retail, and E-Commerce (at 75 per cent), and BFSI, and Consulting (at 74%).
The report noted that while salary and benefits are particularly significant for the new generation of employees, non-material benefits such as equity and work-life balance also hold significance in attracting and retaining talent.
On the job switch behaviour, the report noted that such behaviour is stabilizing in India with the rates of both recent job changers and those inclined to switch remaining unchanged from last year.
Millennials demonstrate the highest inclination for job changes, where 33 per cent have changed employers in the last six months and 47 per cent plan to change employers in the next six months, the report said.
