Kanpur: Despite the COVID-19 pandemic the led to low placement rate across the country, several domestic and multinational companies (MNCs) have offered handsome packages to the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) students.
The highest package of Rs 1.47 crore per annum was offered by one of the MNCs.
According to a report in EdexLive, an Indian company has offered Rs 82 lakh annual package to a student, which is the highest from an Indian firm. Sources in IIT-K’s placement cell said that the number of companies that visited the campus seeking candidates this year though came down to 230 from 300 last year. The placement on the campus had started on December 1.
However, the packages offered in dollars reduced this year due to the weak rupee. Last year, the highest package of Rs 1.50 crore in Indian currency was offered in the placement drive held online due to COVID-19.
On the contrary, the domestic Industries had visited the campus with inflated offers to woo the aspirants. The rise in the package has been to the tune of Rs 20 lakh, the website reported.
