Mumbai: Fearing the second wave of COVID-19, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the schools and colleges in the city will not reopen till January 15, 2021.
Earlier, the BMC had taken a call to keep schools and colleges closed till December 31.
The BMC said on Tuesday, via a circular, that it has decided to keep all government and private schools and colleges shut till January 15 in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19 in other countries and deteriorating situation in some other states.
It although noted that the pandemic is under control in the Mumbai municipal limits.
The civic body also allowed the city’s American Consulate School and other consulate schools to resume operation from January 18, but there was no clarification on when exactly other educational institutes would reopen.
