New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has said that online classes to teach the theory part of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery syllabi are valid.
The NMC announcement came in a wake of reports in a section of media that these classes were not valid. In further clarification, the NMC said that the media reports appeared to have relied upon the reply given on August 13 by the Medical Council of India in response to an RTI query. The query was in reference to the conduct of MBBS teaching curriculum by a foreign university through online medium only, according to EdexLive.
As per the report, the NMC mentioned that for MBBS students, online theory classes can be conducted in view of COVID-19 and stated that these classes should be supplemented by practical and clinical training following the current curriculum in all MBBS subjects. Practical and clinical training can be conducted in colleges and affiliated hospitals once the educational institutions start functioning.
