New Delhi: The National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) has issued an important notice for the Class X students ahead of the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE).
The NTSE is held yearly in two stages. The Stage 1 (State Level) selection is carried out by the states and Union Territories via state-level examination. The students shortlisted according to the quota approved by the Ministry of Education are eligible to appear for the NCERT-conducted Stage 2 (National Level) examination.
According to University Grants Commission (UGC) norms, a scholarship of Rs 1250 per month is given for classes IX to XII, Rs 2000 per month for undergraduate and postgraduate students and the amount of scholarship for PhD is fixed.
The application form submission deadline for Indian students studying in India will be notified by the respective States/UTs while the deadline for submission by students pursuing studies abroad is February 28, 2022.
Stage 1 (State exam) is slated to be held in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Island on January 15, 2022. For other states and Union Territories, the examination is scheduled for January 16, 2022.
The Stage 1 examination in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be held on January 23, 2022, and the State 2 (National) examination in all states and UTs is expected to be held on June 12, 2022.
“The application form for Indian students studying abroad will be uploaded on the NCERT website in January 2022. These candidates are advised to fill up the forms and submit latest by February 28, 2022. There is no application for Stage 2 exam for students studying in India,” read the NCERT circular.
