New Delhi: As many as 72 examinations have been successfully completed since December 2018, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in a reply in the Lok Sabha on Monday, July 26.
Among the 72 examinations, four were pen-and-paper based exams while 68 were computer based, the minister added.
The government established the NTA in 2018 as a premier, specialised, autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation. It was tasked to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions, Pradhan said.
Exams like NEET (UG), JEE (Main), UGC-NET, JNUEE, DUET, ICAR-AIEE, IGNOU, CSIR-NET & AISSEE, etc are conducted by the NTA.
“As NTA is a self-sustained organization, the fees charged from the candidates are kept at the minimum for meeting the input costs and administrative costs only,” Pradhan said while responding to a question on whether NTA is charging exorbitant amount as fee from candidates to appear in various examinations.
