NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has tightened the security arrangements made for the NEET re-examination, scheduled to be held on June 21, to prevent any breach of examination or question paper security.
The NEET UG 2026 re-exam was scheduled after the May 3 exam was cancelled over p[aper leak allegations, triggering widespread concern among more than 22 lakh students.
According to information, a team of teachers and subject experts was constituted 20 days ago to prepare the question paper, and has since been kept in isolation, with no access to their phones or the internet. Their minimal contact with the outside world has been ensured.
Such restrictions will remain in place until the examination is conducted on June 21. The NTA has deployed multiple layers of internal security to prevent any possibility of a breach.
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been entrusted with the responsibility of transportation of question papers. In addition, around five lakh security personnel are expected to be deployed across the country for examination-related duties.
Authorities have announced the use of AI-enabled surveillance cameras and enhanced monitoring of social media platforms to detect and prevent any attempts to compromise the examination process.
Despite several safeguards, the recent paper leak exposed vulnerabilities in the process. The investigation into the paper leak was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
