NEP 2020 To Correct Past Anomalies, Says Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Jammu: Union minister Jitendra Singh said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has a two-fold objective — to correct anomalies of the past and introduce contemporary provisions to be in sync with the present global trends.

Singh said this on Sunday while addressing the Cluster University teachers at an interactive academic programme here on the NEP-2020, organised as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Singh stressed that the demography of education has seen a change region-wise, gender-wise and profile-wise. This can be judged from the fact that now women have a greater representation in civil services and people from other regions are topping different exams, reported news agency PTI.

According to the Union Minister of state for personnel, the greatest anomaly in the previous education policy was the nomenclature itself and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) was a misnomer, misrepresentative in itself, having other connotations.
