Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government plans to modify the dress code for teachers in all schools across the state. Plans are afoot to implement the new dress code from the 2023-24 academic session.
Since primary, upper primary and high schools have been brought within single campus, the state government has worked out a plan for modification of dress code for teachers, sources said. However, a final decision on the matter is yet to be taken.
As per the proposal, the dress code introduced in schools in 2010 will be modified. In the composite schools having class I to X, the dress code for lady teachers of primary schools will be changed by the School and Mass Education department.
All lady teachers from class 1st to 10th will wear beige-coloured sarees with maroon border. At present, primary school teachers are wearing pink sarees and black blouse.
Similarly, all male teachers will wear white shirts and black trousers. Primary teachers are now wearing black pants and blue colour shirts.
Teachers of different classes of the same school are now wearing different uniforms and the government seeks to bring uniformity. Therefore, a plan has been chalked out to prescribe same dress code for the teachers of composite schools in the state, they said.
While a final decision in this regard is yet to be taken, there is no proposal to at present to introduce dress code for lecturers of plus 2 classes, sources said.
The state government had introduced dress code for teachers of primary, upper primary and high schools for the first time in 2010 and various proposals to modify it are being discussed for the last over five years.
