“@warangal_nit has launched an e-commerce platform, ‘Pickmycloth’ to help weavers sell their products directly to customers. This will eliminate middlemen & help Indian weavers maximise their revenue. Great step for making Indian weavers #Aatmanirbhar!,” the Union Education Ministry wrote on its official Twitter account.
Three graduates of the institute have have designed ‘Pickmycloth’.
On how the e-platform works, co-founder Ram Kalyan said as soon as the order is placed, the weaver gets a notification. He then packs the product, labels it and the product is sent for delivery to the customer.
He further informed that over 700 weavers have been listed on the platform, out of which 400 are active.
Dinesh and Abhishek, along with Ram Kalyan, met weavers from different clusters in the country after finishing their course. On learning about their issues and discussing in detail with them, they came up with a solution in the form of PickmyCloth.
