NIT Rourkela’s UBA Team Organises Webinar On COVID-19 Awareness

Rourkela: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) team of NIT Rourkela, Regional Coordinator Institute, Odisha organised a webinar in Odia language on the topic of COVID-19 awareness. The virtual programme was hosted by the UBA team and was entitled “Unnat Bharat Gram Aarogya Srinkhala – A Panel Discussion on COVID-19.”

The UBA faculty coordinator Prof. Sabyasachi Mishra started the programme as moderator. Prof. Mahabir Panda (Chairman, RCI Odisha) greeted the six keynote speakers. Inaugurating the programme, Director of NIT Rourkela, Prof. Animesh Biswas said, “I congratulate the UBA team for this initiation and complying with the guidelines of government protocol while organising each social work during this pandemic.”

The program featured a short video of UBA teamwork, vision along with the NIT Rourkela campus tour. The programme was divided into six sessions to be hosted by six keynote speakers.

Director of Health Intelligence and Vital Statistics, Odisha, Dr. Ramachandra Rout, shared his thoughts on ‘Analysis and Statistics of COVID-19 during 2nd Wave’ in the first session. Taking the program ahead District Public Health Officer, Sundargarh, Dr. Kanhu Charan Nayak talked about ‘Facilities and Management of COVID-19 Patients’.

In the third session, Dr. Smita Kumari Panda (Associate Professor, Community Medicine, VIMSAR Burla) spoke about ‘Disease Prevention and Vaccination Drive’ to fight this pandemic. Dr. Dilip Kumar Sahu (Superintendent, ESIC Hospital Bhubaneswar) decoded the complexities of understanding ‘Disease and Treatment Protocols of COVID-19’. The fifth session was on the subject of ‘Challenges in Management of COVID-19’ and to elaborate on this topic COVID Nodal Officer of ESIC Model Hospital, Rourkela, Dr. Rudra Prasanna Mishra joined in and shared his views.

The last part of the event was addressed by Dr. Sameer Patnaik (Medical Officer, NIT Rourkela) on ‘How the vaccine works to generate antibody?’ All six speakers shared their own experiences and gave examples from daily life.

“The third wave of corona crisis in India is inevitable in spite of the prevalent restrictions and the dilemma of the effects of vaccination still persists. There is a lack of COVID-19 appropriate behavior and requires factors in human behavior while the new variant is unlocking. In this situation, the UBA team of NIT Rourkela organised this programme by aiming to divulge the common people with information that has been nagging them. This virtual interaction with the medical fraternity of COVID-19 experts from the Odisha state will help all of us to understand the situation more accurately,” said Prof. Sabyasachi Mishra in his conlcuding address.
