Mangalore: NITI Aayog, the policy think tank of Government of India, has sanctioned Rs 9 crore to Nitte Education Trust for setting up a full-fledged incubation centre at Nitte Mangalore, Karnataka, and has released Rs 2.5 crore to the Trust as the first instalment.
Nitte Education Trust is among top 50 reputed institutions in India selected by NITI Aayog for setting up Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) under Atal Innovation Mission (NIM) scheme of the union government.
AIC, Nitte provides start-ups with guidance, technological aid, access to investors, networking and facilitating a host of other services required for start-ups to survive and scale. Start-ups also receive direction through robust chain of mentors who give sector-specific information and real-time practical guidance.
AIC will also support existing micro, small and medium enterprises in the region through appropriate intervention strategies, reports timesofindia.com.
As per an official statement, the incubation centre has ready-to-use 10,000 sq. ft. space for incubation facilities comprising product development, training, conferencing and co-working, in which budding entrepreneurs who want to create start-ups in the areas of agriculture, biotechnology and information technology and computer sciences could enrol themselves as incubates and nurture their innovative ideas, a NET communiqué stated.
The centre will network with industry associations and trade bodies to identify research, training, education, consulting and development needs of MSME sector. The centre will also coordinate with reputed institutions in India and abroad to provide training to entrepreneurs for their skill/ technology up-gradation. AIC, Nitte will provide access to information resources and databases for competitive intelligence, market research and patent.
