New Delhi: NITI Aayog has constituted a committee to recommend reforms in the urban planning education system.
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar will head the 14-member advisory committee. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and secretaries of the three ministries of Housing and Urban Affairs, Higher Education, and Panchayati Raj will also be members of the committee, Indian Express reported.
As per a NITI Aayog notification on Thursday, the committee will “review the current urban planning education system in India in terms of multi-disciplinary, curriculum and related issues at graduate and postgraduate levels in the context of the challenges posed by rapid urbanization”.
It will also examine the availability, demand and supply of qualified urban planners in the country.
