BHUBANESWAR: The National Law University Odisha (NLUO), Cuttack has introduced a single credit course titled ‘Exploring Cyber Forensics’: Insights from the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.
The course is open for those who are interested in having a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between cybercrime and the legal processes governing the collection and presentation of electronic evidence under the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (earlier, Indian Evidence Act, 1872), said a notification issued by the NLUO.
The programme will be helpful for students of law, judges, advocates, police personnel; and in general, to the persons interested in the operation, execution and implementation of the law.
With the rapid growth of technology, cybercrime has emerged as a significant challenge globally, encompassing a broad spectrum of criminal activities carried out using digital platforms.
Crimes related to hacking, identity theft, phishing, cyberstalking, and cyberterrorism have grown exponentially, with the modus operandi becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. Give the scenario, an effective mechanism to investigate, analyse, and present digital evidence has become the need of the hour.
The discipline of cyber forensics offers a structured approach to uncover and preserve digital evidence, ensuring it is admissible in courts of law. The course, “Exploring Cyber Forensics: Insights from the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023”, has been specifically designed to address these issues, said the notification.
