No Extra Attempt For UPSC Aspirants: Supreme Court
New Delhi: The Supreme Court said on Wednesday that the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants who exhausted their last attempts in October 2020 will not get an extra chance.
The apex court dismissed a plea that sought a second shot at the civil service examination due to the coronavirus pandemic and age bar.
However, the Centre was not in favour of granting one extra opportunity to civil services aspirants who could not appear for their last attempt in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The three-judge Bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Indu Malhotra, and Ajay Rastogi delivered the verdict.
The Centre and UPSC were ready to provide extra chances to the candidates as a one-time measure, but none of the parties was ready to lift the age bar criteria for the exam.
The notification of the UPSC IAS exam would soon be out and available on the official site of UPSC on upsc.gov.in.
