NSUI Wants Delhi University To Cancel Final-Semester Exams

New Delhi: The Congress-affiliated student union wrote a letter to the vice-chancellor of Delhi University seeking the cancellation of final year examinations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The letter was addressed to acting vice-chancellor PC Joshi. The National Students Union of India (NSUI) national secretary Lokesh Chugh said it is not feasible to hold final year examinations as the country faces a double crisis situation.

“India is facing a double crisis situation wherein on one hand the country is already fighting against the pandemic and in the middle of that we are now also fighting against the new epedemic that is Black Fungus. The situation is deteriorating and is out of control of the govt, In such conditions it is not at all justified to put additional pressure on students regarding the examination,” Lokesh was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The Delhi University had announced on May 21 that the final year exams and the end-semester will commence on June 7. The exams were slated to be conducted from May 15. However, in view of the rising COVID-19 cases here, the exams were postponed till June 1.
