NTA Likely To Postpone CUET UG, New Schedule To Be Declared Soon
Sources say the NTA has informed the UGC of its inability to conduct the examination as per the previously announced schedule
NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is likely to postpone the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programmes. An announcement to this effect is expected soon.
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG was slated to begin on May 8.
Sources said that the NTA had informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) of its inability to conduct the examination as per the announced schedule.
A meeting between NTA and the UGC will be held today to decide on a new examination schedule, following which a formal announcement on fresh exam dates is expected.
It is learned that the delay in preparation for CUET, much of it caused by the focus on conducting the NEET-UG entrance test held last Sunday, is responsible for NTA seeking more time from UGC to conduct exam. UGC is the parent body for the examination, and NTA conducts the exam on its behalf.
The delay in announcing the exam schedule has caused confusion among lakhs of aspirants, as they continue to wait for exam city slips and clear communication from the NTA regarding the detailed timetable.
Many expressed their dissatisfaction over the delay and confusion.
“#CUET2025 The examination is proposed to start from 8th May, but till now the students have neither received the complete schedule, nor city intimation nor admit card. In such a situation, conducting the exam would be injustice to lakhs of students. The date should be extended and all the information should be given on time. @EduMinOfIndia @ugc_india @NTA_Exams Please take note. #CUETDateExtend,” Suraj Kumar posted on X. #CUET2025 की परीक्षा 8 मई से प्रस्तावित है, लेकिन अब तक छात्रों को न पूरा शेड्यूल मिला है, न सिटी इंटिमेशन और न ही एडमिट कार्ड।
ऐसे में परीक्षा करवाना लाखों छात्रों के साथ अन्याय होगा।
तिथि आगे बढ़ाई जाए और सारी जानकारी समय पर दी जाए।@EduMinOfIndia @ugc_india @NTA_Exams कृपया…— Suraj Kumar (@Surajmalviyaacd) May 5, 2025

The CUET-UG, which is a gateway to undergraduate admissions in the country, has seen a record 13.5 lakh applications this year. This year, the examination will be conducted entirely in computer-based test (CBT) mode for all 37 subjects, each with a duration of 60 minutes and consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. The number of shifts per day will vary depending on the availability of exam centers, with two to three shifts expected daily.
