Bhubaneswar: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday ordered for cancellation of this year’s Plus II board exam conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).
He said the safety of students is a priority of his government. “All the stakeholders would have to face a lot of trouble if the board examinations were conducted amid the second wave of the pandemic,” he said.
The CM has directed the CHSE to formulate well-defined objective criteria to evaluate the students after thorough consultations with experts within a stipulated time frame.
The announcement was made a day after School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash held a meeting with top officials to deliberate on the issue.
Earlier this week, CBSE and CISCE had cancelled the Class XII board exams.
Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra had also scrapped Class XII board exams on Thursday.
