Bhubaneswar: Less than a year after the state government made the announcement, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday launched the ‘Mo College Abhijan’ on the line of ‘Mo School’ campaign.
As many as 755 state government-run colleges and universities have been included under the Abhijan to give an opportunity to the alumni to remain connected with their colleges by contributing to its development. Each alumnus can contribute upto Rs 50 lakh to each institution per year under the programme. It will be registered as a society.
Launching the campaign on virtual mode, the Chief Minister said it is aimed at creating a healthy learning atmosphere in colleges and universities.
Under the Abhiyan, the government will provide the grant equivalent to double the contribution made by former students of universities and colleges. Besides the students, individuals and members of the society can contribute. The Government will take steps for development of the institutions with the contribution amount.
The chief minister also inaugurated the Abhijan’s web portal on the occasion. The government had announced to launch the programme in July 2020.
Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subroto Bagchi, Minister of Higher Education Arun Sahu, eminent writer Pratibha Ray and Ollywood actors Siddhant Mohapatra and Akash Das Nayak were present.
