Bhubaneswar: Girls have outscored boys in the annual Plus II Arts and Vocational Education exams, the results of which were announced on Saturday.
School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash announced the results at the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) headquarters here.
The minister said a total of 2,19,716 Arts students had appeared in the exam and 1,48,452 have cleared it, making for a pass percentage of 67.56. This is 2.67% higher than that last year (65.89%).
Dash said girls have again outscored the boys in the Arts examination this year. While 75.48% of girls have cleared the examination, the pass result of the boys is 57.53, he added.
In terms of the district-wise performance, Bargarh district has topped the list with 76.63% while Nabarangpur is at the bottom with 44.67%.
He also said that 10 higher secondary schools have 100 per cent results while there is no nil result this year.
Talking about the Vocational Education results, the minister said out of 7,032 candidates, 4,046 have passed, making for a pass percentage of 57.53. This is 4.91% higher than that last year.
He stated that out of 3,730 boys who appeared for the exam, 1,941 have passed with the pass percentage of 52.30. On the other hand, out of the 3,302 girl candidates, 2,015 have passed with the pass percentage of 63.75.
He said 585 (14.45%) students have secured first division and 1327 students (32.79%) secured second division.
In terms of district-wise performance, Bargarh district has topped the list with 70.40% while Nabarangpur is at the bottom with 12.50%.
