Bhubaneswar: With the schools set to reopen for the students of Class X and XII on January 8, the state government on Tuesday directed district collectors and municipal commissioners to conduct health check-up of students, teachers and other non-teaching staff.
In an official notification, PK Mohapatra, additional chief secretary, Health and Family Welfare department said since there will be a congregation of students of both classes and many of them will stay in hostels, take food from common mess and share bedrooms and dormitories, their frequent health check-up is required.
He directed the officers to take necessary steps to mobilise local ASHA/ANM workers to visit schools and conduct health check-up of students, teachers and non-teaching staff on weekly basis. As a precautionary measure, testing of symptomatic cases by RRT should be facilitated, he added.
Though separate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been issued by the School and Mass Education Department in this regard, he advised taking these precautionary measures to avoid any eventuality in view of COVID-19.
