BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has initiated the process for the recruitment of 7,664 posts in various categories of police and uniformed services.
Official sources said the recruitment process will be conducted by the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC).
In a letter, the Home Department has assigned the OUSSSC the responsibility of conducting recruitment examinations for Constable, OISF Constable, Constable (Communication), and Sub-Inspector (SI) & equivalent ranks.
Out of total 7,664 posts, the highest number of posts — 4,219 — are for Civil Constable. This is followed by OISF Constable with 2,212 vacancies. The government has also sanctioned 933 posts for Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent ranks. Additionally, 300 posts have been approved for Constable (Communication).
According to the letter, the recruitment for SI and equivalent posts, which was earlier assigned to the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB), will now be handled by OUSSSC due to various reasons.
The government has also stated that all candidates, who had earlier applied for these posts and were found eligible will be allowed to compete in the upcoming recruitment process to be conducted by OUSSSC.
The OPRB has been instructed to hand over all application forms and related data to OUSSSC for smooth and prompt conduct of the recruitment.
