Bhubaneswar: Students who have cleared the Matric exams in Odisha will have no problem in getting admission to Plus II first year, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said on Monday.
The minister, however, informed that the number of matric pass-outs this year (6,17,876) exceeds the number of available seats (6,03,113) in Plus II, government and private ITI and polytechnic institutions in Odisha.
Besides, the number of admission seekers will exceed 6.28 lakh as there will be CBSE and ISCE pass-out students also. So there could be a shortage of over 24,000 seats, Dash told the media.
“The School and Mass Education Department is aware of this issue. Keeping in mind that the students are keen on pursuing their studies in bigger colleges, steps will be taken to increase the seats in these colleges accordingly so that there will be no problem for the students,” he added.
On the announcement of Plus II results, the minister said the School and Mass Education Department had earlier announced that they will be declared in the second week of August. But in keeping with a Supreme Court directive, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE).is taking steps to declare the results by July 31.
