Bhubaneswar: The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi for education and research collaboration.
The two institutions have joined forces to generate frontier technologies and produce quality manpower in the field of agricultural research and education. This will help address the challenges faced by rural communities and improve their quality of life.
OUAT and IIT Delhi will jointly work in fields of sensor application in agriculture, precision farming, geospatial technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology and several other related aspects of agriculture leading to the creation of rural livelihood opportunities, The Times of India reported.
OUAT director Hrusikesh Patro said that both students and faculties will benefit through exchange programmes and use of laboratories of both organizations. “Students and scientists of our university can get a chance to conduct research in IIT Delhi laboratory. The IIT Delhi can also use our facilities,” Patro said.
He added that the collaboration would help in solving several problems of the farmers.

The institutions could, in future, have a joint venture to operate research projects of common interest, remarked the Director.
The MoU was signed by OUAT Vice-Chancellor Pawan Kumar Agrawal and IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao.
