New Delhi: As India witnesses a second wave of COVID-19 infections, only 25 per cent of parents are in favour of sending their children to school in the month of April, according to a survey.
With B.1.1.7 — the UK variant of SARS-COV2 — known for high transmissibility within children, the majority of parents have expressed serious concerns about sending their wards to school.
Almost 73 per cent of parents believe that physical schools must not operate if active cases in the district are above 100, according to a survey by LocalCircles, reported by news agency IANS.
According to the survey’s feedback and given the massive surge in the COVID-19 cases in the last three weeks, the default option for the schools should be closed between April and June.
LocalCircles conducted another survey to understand whether parents are in favour of sending their children to school in April and also to determine a criterion to open physical classes.
Only 25 per cent of parents are willing to send their wards to school in April given the latest wave of COVID-19 cases across the country, the survey revealed.
