New Delhi: Delhi University conducted online open-book examinations (OBE) for different courses. However, it is still facing technical glitches even after the publication of the results.
According to media reports, several students were marked absent for the examination even after appearing. Some have even scored “zero” in a few papers. In addition to this, there are some whose results are delayed.
Education Times quoted a final year DU student as saying, “DU has not been consistent in declaring the results. I am spending sleepless nights as my results have been delayed.”
However, it is not just students who are facing all the trouble. The faculty members too are complaining of technical issues with the online OBE.
A senior faculty member of Zakir Hussain College said that from day one, OBE had issues regarding the date sheet, exam schedule, and whether the question paper was put on the portal or not. Then there were problems of downloading and uploading the answer scripts, and whether it was going to the right person for evaluation. There were cases when the answer sheets were going to teachers, who were not teaching them.
They have also raised concerns about ethical violations. In past instances, the university had upheld ethical aspects of protecting the identity of students on the answer scripts.
Initially, students uploaded their answer sheets through the portal. However, problems started arising when the court ordered the students to receive answer sheets through email besides sending it to the nodal officer.
As a result, the university received more than 5 lakh emails from students of all courses. In the future, the email option is however expected to be discontinued.
