Open Book Exams Insensitive To Visually Impaired Students: NFB
New Delhi: The National Federation of Blind (NFB) has criticised Delhi University’s (DU) decision to hold open book exams as being “insensitive” towards visually impaired students.
“DU has completely ignored the fact that blind and some other students would need scribes to write the exams. However, scribes will not be available during the coronavirus pandemic because of adherence to social distancing norms,” NFB Secretary SK Rungta said on Saturday.
The Federation has also filed a petition in Delhi High Court against the conduct of open book exams for DU’s final year students. The matter will come up for hearing on June 9.
