Bhubaneswar: The admission process for Plus II streams in Odisha will begin by August 16, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das said on Saturday.
Last year, Plus II admissions in the state had started on August 21. But this year. the process will begin between August 14 and 16, the minister told the media.
Das said the Matric students who had appeared in the offline improvement examination, will can take admission in Plus II. “The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is trying to complete the evaluation of the offline examination papers by the second week of this month and announce the results by August 20,” he added.
Referring to the record pass percentage in the Matric exams, the minister said Plus II colleges have applied for increase in seats. “As we have received the applications for the increase of about 55,000 additional seats, there will be no problem in the admission of the students. Before the commencement of the admission process, the exact number of seats to be increased for the admission will be available on the SAMS website (https://samsodisha.gov.in),” he pointed out.
The minister, however, admitted that there will be problems for Science students due to shortage of laboratories. A meeting chaired by the Principal Secretary was held in this regard on Friday, he informed.
“The meeting decided that to provide laboratory facility to the students, the department will review the infrastructure of the self-financing colleges,” he said.
