Bhubaneswar: After cancelling the annual matric examination, the Odisha government on Wednesday announced the postponement of the Plus II board.
The exam being conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) was scheduled to begin on May 18.
“The examination will be held once the COVID-19 situation improves. The situation will be reviewed in the first week of June by the government and CHSE and at least 15 days’ time will be given before the start of the examination,” a notification issued by the School and Mass Education Department said.
It further said that the Class X examination conducted by BSE, Odisha, scheduled to be held from May 3 and all examinations of Odisha State Board of Madrasa Education scheduled to be held from May 18 have been cancelled.
“The results of the Class X Board will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Any candidate, who will not be satisfied with the marks awarded to him/her on this basis, will be given an opportunity to sit in an examination as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the examination. The Director, Secondary Education, Odisha as the President of Odisha State Board of Madrasa Education will also take appropriate steps for awarding alternate mode of marks to the students who are supposed to appear in Madras Board Examinations,” it added.
Students who are at present studying in Class IX and Class-XI (the academic year 2020-21) are promoted to Class X and Class-XI respectively and they would not have to sit in for any examination for class promotion.
The ongoing classes for students of Class X and Plus II for the academic year 2020-21 have been suspended and the schools will be closed so far teaching activities are concerned. However, online classes may be conducted wherever feasible.
