Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Visva-Bharati University’s centenary celebrations via video-conferencing on Thursday, December 24. The event will be live-streamed by the university.
Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore laid the university’s foundation stone in 1921, making it the oldest central university in the country. The varsity was founded on the Tagore-devised pedagogy, although gradually the curriculum of Visva-Bharati evolved around modern education.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and the Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will attend the virtual celebrations of the varsity.
