Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate nine new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh this month. The date for the inauguration is not finalised yet.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new medical colleges simultaneously. It is for the first time in the history of UP that such a large number of medical colleges will be inaugurated simultaneously,” the state government was quoted as saying in the statement by news agency IANS.
A government spokesperson said that the new medical colleges will be inaugurated in Deoria, Etah, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh and Siddhartha Nagar districts.
Out of over 450 faculty members, about 70 per cent had already been hired with full transparency, the official said.
It may be recalled that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced that there should be a medical college in every district to prevent patients from travelling inter-district for treatment.
