New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot, Gujarat, on December 31. He will attend the ceremony via video conference.
Over 201 acres of land have been allocated for the educational institute, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The institute will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,195 crore, reported news agency ANI.
This will be Gujarat’s first AIIMS, which is expected to complete by mid-2022. The Gujarat government donated the land to the Centre for the construction of the project.
The PMO said that the new AIIMS will be a 750-bed hospital and will also have 30 beds in the AYUSH block. There will be 60 nursing seats and 125 MBBS seats, said the PMO.
