Prime Minister Narendra Modi, began his interaction with students at the annual programme “Pariksha Pe Charcha” today with the wish to have a #without filter discussion about exams, at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. This is the third edition of “Pariksha Pe Charcha” where the PM interacts with a gathering of students, teachers and parents about Board exam related issues.
The PM shared tips and his personal experiences with the gathering to ensure that they take the upcoming Board exams in a relaxed manner.
“I would urge students to be confident about their own preparation. Do not entre the exam hall with any sort of pressure. Do not worry what the others are doing. Have faith in yourself and focus on what you’ve prepared,” the PM said during his question answer session with the students.
In response to the very first question put by a student from Rajasthan, Yashashri “Board Exams put our mood off…what do we do about it?”, PM Modi said “Motivation and Demotivation are very common. Everyone goes through these feelings. In this regard, I can never forget my visit to ISRO during Chandrayaan and the time spent with our hardworking scientists.”
He referred to the Chandrayaan-2 moon landing setback as an example of rising from failures and overcoming “demotivation” during exams.
I was told I should not attend the Chrandrayaan landing as there was no guarantee of success but I needed to be there,” he said, sharing his experience at ISRO in September 2019 when India’s first moon landing suffered a setback.
“We can add enthusiasm to every aspect of life. A temporary setback doesn’t mean success is not waiting. In fact, a setback may mean the best is yet to come.” He recounted how the ISRO scientists overcame their dismay.
He also urged students to have a “technology free hour” and suggested that parents allow their children to pursue extra-curricular activities of their choice.
“What is not good is when the passion of the children becomes fashion statements for parents. Extra-curricular activities need not be glamour driven. Let each child pursue what he or she likes,” he said.
The session took on an interesting turn when three students from three different parts of India – Aurangabad, Ladakh and Tripura put a similar question before the Prime Minister. The question was “What is the right time to study?”
The PM in his reply, instead of humouring the students, said the morning hour is the best as our mind tends to be calm and tension free after a good night’s sleep. Though he also suggested that they do what suits them the best.
He suggested the gathered students to read his book Exam Warriors to deal with all exam related questions.
He thanked the teachers, parents, guardians and the HRD Ministry to make “Pariksha Pe Charcha” a successful initiative.
