New Delhi: The Udupi (Karnataka) Police on Sunday arrested Himanshu Joshi, a 20-year-old student of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), for procuring the drugs (488 MDMA) worth Rs 15 lakh through the dark web.
The boy hailed from Noida city and was staying in a rented facility in Manipal. The student was caught red-handed by the police when he was trying to sell the drugs near Sheemra bridge to a classmate. The police have seized the student’s mobile phone and bike, as per The News Minute report.
The police are now investigating how the boy managed to stay in the town during lockdown. Also, the police are going ahead with the investigation on a bigger drug racket and how the MDMA drugs were procured on the dark web, as per The Hindu.
Meanwhile, the student has been suspended by the institution.
Also, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested members of a drug syndicate behind a parcel from the Netherlands containing 750 MDMA tablets which were seized at the foreign post office in Bengaluru.
