Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday said that a healthy relationship between teachers and students is essential for any institution to scale new heights.
“The students and teachers are the soul of any educational institution. Together you can bring about the desired academic excellence and add glory to the institution,” he said while addressing the closing ceremony of the platinum jubilee of Utkal University here.
Welcoming President Ram Nath Kovind for gracing the university’s platinum jubilee celebrations, the CM said he was greatly moved by the sentiments, emotions and enthusiasm of the students during his visit to Utkal University in November last year. “Encouraging cooperation and involvement of the faculty and the alumni have made this occasion a grand success,” he pointed out.
He said the real objective of education should be to develop innovative ideas, leadership quality and broaden the outlook of students so that they can utilize their talents for the well being of humanity. “The students should not just learn to make a living. We want our new generation to be economic and social entrepreneurs. Our students must be able to dream big and contribute on a global scale. As Gandhiji had said, you have to be the change, you want to see in society,” he observed.
Maintaining that Utkal University is an institution of eminence not only in Odisha but also in the entire country, the CM urged the students to take the institution to new heights of glory.
