Burla: The authorities of VIMSAR (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research) here have initiated a probe following complaints of ragging against some senior students at this premier Odisha institute in Sambalpur district.
According to reports, a group of fourth-year MBBS students had barged into the hostel of second-year students some days ago and allegedly abused them. The next day, the second-year students complained to the institute authorities.
Enraged over this, the fourth-year students again intruded into the hostel for the juniors late on Wednesday night. They barged into room nos. four and six and abused the students for lodging a complaint. The senior students even allegedly thrashed some juniors while they were sleeping.
The second-year students on Thursday lodged another complaint with the VIMSAR authorities.
Following this, the anti-ragging cell in the medical college has started an investigation, VIMSAR Principal, Dr Jayashree Dora informed.
