HYDERABAD: The Directorate of Government Examinations, Telangana, has extended the registration deadline for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination 2025-26.
Students studying in Class 8 during the 2025-26 academic session can register and pay the examination fee online until October 18.
“It is informed that the last date to register the application online and the due dates for payment of examination fee for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination by the students who are studying in Class VIII during Academic Year 2025-26 is hereby extended up to October 18, 2025,” a statement released by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Telangana, said.

Headmasters of schools need to submit the printed copies of the online application forms, nominal rolls (two copies), and SBI fee receipts to the respective District Educational Officer (DEO) by October 22.
The DEOs must then forward the verified documents to the Director of Government Examinations, Telangana, Hyderabad, by October 24.
Eligibility criteria
The NMMSS is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at encouraging meritorious students from economically weaker sections to continue their education at the secondary stage.
The student must be studying in Class 8 in a recognised government, local body, or aided school during the 2025-26 academic year.
The annual parental income should not exceed Rs 3,50,000 from all sources.
Students studying in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, or any residential schools run by the central or state government are not eligible.
How to apply for Telangana NMMS 2025-26
Step 1: Visit the official website of BSE Telangana, bse.telangana.gov.in
Step 2: Go to the “NMMS 2025-26 Application” link
Step 3: Fill in the student and school details.
Step 4: Upload the necessary documents such as income certificate, caste certificate, and photograph.
Step 5: Pay the examination fee
Step 6: Download and print the application form and nominal rolls for submission through the school headmaster.
Students who qualify in the NMMS exam will receive a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per year (Rs 1,000 per month) from Class 9 to Class 12, provided they continue their education in a recognised institution and maintain satisfactory academic performance. The scholarship is directly credited to the students’ bank accounts through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
