New Delhi: Samsung India will offer 150 scholarships as part of its fifth ‘Star Scholar’ programme for the 2020-21 academic year.
Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) who have qualified for National Institute of Technology (NIT) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) are eligible for the scholarship, reported Hindustan Times.
Samsung said in a press statement that the scholarships will be granted on the basis of rankings in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for BE/B.Tech/Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech).
The scholarships will cover up to Rs 2 lakh per year. Registration will be open till January 25, 2021.
Scholarship renewal will be subject to applicants maintaining a Cumulative Grade Point (CGPA) or Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) rating of five and above.
Corporate vice-president of Samsung India Peter Rhee said that Samsung aims to nurture young minds and “encourage a culture of innovation among the next generation of the country”.
He added that the company hopes to extend “more such scholarships to foster young and bright talents who hold the potential to build the nation.”
