Schools & Colleges In TN Not To Reopen On November 16 As State Govt Revises Decision

Chennai: Classes 9 to 12 will not reopen in Tamil Nadu on November 16, as earlier announced by the state government.

The decision was taken after analyzing feedback from parents. Fresh dates for reopening schools and colleges will be announced later.

On November 9, all schools held consultation meetings where they asked parents to share their views on reopening of schools.

Some parents opined that schools should be reopened while others voiced safety concerns and suggested schools should not reopen on November 16, the state government informed in a press release.

Feedback was also taken from college and university representatives on reopening of educational institutions.

After considering all feedbacks and considering guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), it was decided that colleges and universities will reopen for final year PG students of science and technical courses, as well as Ph.D. students on December 2.

According to The Hindu, hostels will reopen for these students and separate SOPs will be issued for campus and hostels.
