Schools To Reopen In Odisha, 3 Other States From Monday; Know Details

Bhubaneswar: Odisha, Bihar, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand will reopen their schools on Monday, February 8. All these four states had earlier reopened regular offline classes for students preparing for board exams.

All four states will follow COVID-19 related guidelines for the safety of students, teachers and other staff.

Odisha

Barely a month after the resumption of offline classes for the tenth and 12th standard students, Odisha will reopen its schools for Classes IX and XI from Monday. Classes will be held from 8:30 am to 10:30 am six days a week. Three periods will be accommodated in those two hours.

Bihar

Students of Classes VI to VIII in Bihar will visit schools for the first time in 10 months on Monday. Schools have been asked to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines — wearing face masks and maintaining appropriate distance among others. The board exams for Class XII students started here on February 1.

Earlier, Bihar schools resumed for Classes IX to XII with half attendance. Colleges too reopened physical classes for final year students. The state government had instructed all the school authorities to hold medical examination of the students and teachers randomly and ensure they don’t have any COVID-19 symptoms.

Rajasthan

Schools will reopen for classes VI to VIII on Monday following coronavirus-related guidelines. Colleges will also reopen for first-year and second-year students. It was decided that 50 per cent of the strength will be allowed in school and colleges on a day. This call was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Sunday evening.

Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government directed schools on Thursday to reopen offline classes for students of Classes VI to XI from February 8. Besides taking COVID-19 precautions, the government had asked schools to appoint nodal officers to check regular sanitising of classrooms, thermal screening, mask-wearing, and social distancing norms. Classes X and XII have been functioning here since November 2020.
